Enrollment at many 2-year colleges has been steadily growing nationwide, including USC Salkehatchie. In order to better serve this increasing number of students, many of whom commute from neighboring areas, a new Student Housing Project was developed. The adjacent university currently does not provide any student housing. This project will benefit the community by bringing residents to the area and stimulating the local economy. The facility is owned and managed by Community Development and Improvement Corporation (CDIC) for the benefit of students attending USC Salk. The building is approximately 34,900 square feet with three floors, elevator, having 27 suites with 101 beds. The typical unit of four (4) individual bedrooms with two (2) bathrooms. There is security as well as a Resident Assistant (RA) on duty. This co-ed student housing, with men and women living on all floors, but not sharing suites. Each suite is comprised of one gender. Students have the ability to choose who they would prefer as their roommates although we cannot guarantee their preferences. Student Lounges/Study Rooms are located on the second and third floors. Inside the lounges are full kitchens with ranges and refrigerators. Parking is directly in front of the student housing.
